Moses took it upon himself to show God all his short comings. What most do in order to get out of uncomfortable circumstances, I suppose. God showed Moses that he knew all about him, and had answer for all of Moses reasons for not wanting to go to Egypt. I don’t hold it against Moses for not wanting to go to Egypt, I have not had much desire to do so myself.
When Moses and Aaron arrived, the their rescue was certain. Like a broken arm with a dislocated bone that has to be set via brute force, things get worse before they can get better.
These versus though boring as the day is long, or maybe longer are important for two reasons. First, God is establishing his name with Moses to underscore that Moses is important to God, and that this mission must be fulfilled. God again affirms genealogy of the players in this game and that everyone is right where they are intended to be.
